Vietnam’s national football team rose only one place to 139th position in the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) ranking this month, the federation announced on May 16.
The Vietnam News Agency reported that after this modest jump, Vietnam ranked third in the Southeast Asian region, after Thailand, 120th, and Singapore, 125th.
Indonesia was placed fourth in the region at 149th, followed by Myanmar and Malaysia (156th), Laos (165th), the Philippines (170th), Cambodia (171st), Brunei (173rd) and East Timor (199th).
Iran led the Asian region at 41st position while Japan made the second place at 44th.
Italia secured the top position in the world while Brazil outstripped Argentina to the second place.
